Coco Plums Restaurant
Coco Plums is a wonderful Little restaurant on Zion Hill in
Apple Bay, Tortola – people who’ve been to the area before might remember it
as The Apple under previous owners. This
has always been a popular place for locals and visitors to hang out for a while,
but, since its change of name and image, the food has now become the focus of
attention.
You’ll notice that many restaurants in the Caribbean
don’t have too much ‘Sidewalk Appeal’ – they rely on what’s on offer
inside and their reputation going round by word of mouth.
Coco Plums is a little like that – but do yourself a favor and pay it a
visit.
Coco Plums Restaurant staff
For a start, the waitresses in Coco Plums are just about
the friendliest you will find anywhere in the whole of Tortola and will take
time to explain everything about what’s on the menu, which has a wide variety
of dishes available. You’ll find
lots of fresh local fish and seafood as well as some highly recommended pasta
dishes. Highlights undoubtedly
include the stuffed chicken (stuffed
with spinach, cheese and mushrooms), the spaghetti carbonara and the mushrooms
on a skillet appetizer. The
blackened steak seasoning is also very well-known – try it on steak or fish.
You can always be sure of generous portions at Coco
Plums and an additional salad course is usually served between your starter and
your main completely free of charge.
With the quality of the food and the size of the portions,
you’ll gather that this is a restaurant where it is advisable to book ahead
and reserve your table – it’s often full.
You can telephone Coco Plums at 2844954672.
One of the signs that a place offers good value for money
is the amount of local people who eat there regularly and Coco Plums comes out
well in that sort of analysis; it’s a very popular place where you’ll often
find yourself sitting near office workers on a ‘Girls’ Night Out’ or local
couples treating themselves to a really good meal.
There’s a lively, friendly atmosphere every time you go
to Coco Plums, where they have a Happy Hour from 5 to 7 every day; when you can
get some delicious coconut chips and conch fritters, incidentally.
This is one of those restaurants you will go into and
think, ‘I wish we had somewhere just like this back home’ – but mind the
fig tree when you go back into the street.
It’s caught a lot of people out in its time!
