The Gestalt: Blending Indoor and Outdoor
The Gestalt's décor and room design blurs indoor and
outdoor, with living spaces that are set on gardenlike patios and interior rooms
boasting an abundance of plants and light. Located at Steele Point in West End,
Tortola, its flat red roof is a landmark for boaters coming around the far west
end of the island, yet it's completely private and hidden by the dense jungle
around it. Specs The Gestalt is a relatively large villa, with four
king-size bedrooms, all with air conditioning and bathrooms with outdoor
showers. Up to eight guests can stay at the Gestalt, including children. The
pool sits next to an outdoor eating area, and catches the sun all day. Maid
service is five days a week, and smoking is permitted outside only. Laundry
facilities are available to guests as well. For a very large party, the Gestalt can be combined with
the nearby Steele Point to accommodate up to 18 guests. You can use the gourmet
kitchen all you wish, or you can use the gas barbecue grill outside instead to
make real Caribbean jerk. Rentals at The Gestalt are minimum 7 nights, 14 nights
during the Christmas season. Special Features This home is set in a tropical garden estate, Steele Point,
a hundred feet above sea level, and it feels like a magical kingdom set apart
from the rest of the world. Entry is by a stone path set in a garden filled with
hibiscus and oleander, papaya and sunny palms, all framing the Mediterranean
style two-level home. As much of The Gestalt as is possible is set outside, or
indoors spilling into the outdoors. Tropical furnishings and plants set against
whites and blues indoors reflect the white patio against blue sea outdoors. In
the shared living areas, guests have access to cable television and a large
music and movie library. Take a closer look at the world around you or at
passing boats with the provided binoculars. Below the house, a long private path winds down to a
private dock perfect for diving and snorkeling in the pristine channel waters.
Some of the best underwater sights in the Virgin Islands are within easy
distance of The Gestalt. Or you can take the hedonistic route instead, spend your
vacation lounging beside the pool soaking up the sun, or reading all the books
you've been promising yourself while enjoying the tropical beauty here. There's
even a massage table on premises, and masseuses who will come out to The
Gestalt, as well as a professional chef and spa therapists for home beauty
treatments. What's close by The Gestalt Smuggler's Cove and Long Bay are both just a few minutes away, and both offer excellent beaches, a selection of restaurants, and shops that sell island art and other things you'll need. The West End ferry dock is only five minutes away, and from there you can take a boat over to Virgin Gorda.
