Tortola Rentals: Villas in Paradise
|

|
What more relaxing vacation could there be than staying in one of the Tortola
rentals that dot the coastline of the island?
Located in the British Virgin Islands less than a hundred
miles from Puerto Rico, Tortola is a miniature paradise filled with jungles
and virgin beach. The island is decorated with beautiful yachts and full of
nautical history. Whether it's jungle, mountain, beach, or island city
living you want, you can find a Tortola villa perfect for you.

Tortola Rentals: East or West End Tortola Villas
Most visitors agree that the west portion of Tortola is the best for relaxing
villa-based vacations. On the other side of Mount Sage from Road Town, the many
small cays and inlets skirted with beautiful sandy beaches rise quickly to steep
hillsides, providing ideal locations for both beach houses and beach overlook
homes.
A good West End Tortola villa will put you in walking distance of Long Bay
West End, where the long beach allows easy access to excellent waves, some
good snorkeling areas, and a number of the best restaurants on Tortola. It may
also be in walking distance of Smuggler's Cove, the most private public beach on
Tortola and a great place to go for a quiet and romantic day snorkeling,
swimming, or just laying on the beach. Our favorite is the Limeberry House where
we've stayed year after year.
Apple Bay, also nearby, isn't the world's greatest swimming beach, but you'll
find the Bomba Shack, an indescribable little bar and grill with a great
Moonlight Madness party every full moon. Fort Recovery, Soper's Hole, and
Frenchman's Cay (where the excellent Pusser's can be found) are also in this
area.
One of the best Tortola rental villas here is the Jacaranda, with an amazing
view of the ocean and St. John's Island. The Seagrape on Little Thatch
Island may be the most private villa rental anywhere in Tortola, with great
views from essentially your own private island. To the north of Mount Sage,
Green Bank also has some fantastic Tortola villas to rent, most of which are
located high up on the mountainside for breathtaking views.
While there are a few villas located east of the mountain and Road Town,
almost all of Tortola's rental villas are on the west side.
Questions To Ask Before Renting Tortola Villas
Every good Tortola villa will have a pool, all furnishings, all linens, etc. Not
all allow children, and some have strict policies about additional guests. Other
things you should ask them about:
What is within walking distance, and what do you consider to be walking
distance?
How long does it take to walk to the beach, and which beach is closest?
Can I pre-order food provisions to be delivered before I get there?
Where is the closest town, and who there can answer questions about the
area?
Is there a cancellation policy, and may I have that in writing?
Who is my emergency local point of contact?
Can I rent fishing tackle, scuba gear, snorkel gear, or boats?
Is transportation easily available, or should I just go ahead and rent a
vehicle?
If I rent a car, is it wise to get a jeep?
Will I have internet access, phone access, etc?
If you have any special needs, pets, children or other issues, make a list of
them and record the answer to each one. Don't settle for any Tortola villa; make
sure you get the one that is perfect for you.
