The Secret Garden Café
The Secret Garden is a secret no more – and this is one
secret people won’t mind you sharing.
Let me explain.
The Secret Garden is absolutely idyllic – a secluded
little restaurant situated in the gardens of Josiah’s Bay Plantation, which
features the ruin of a recently restored old sugar plantation house.
The Plantation is located on Tortola’s northern shore, just a short
walk up from Josiah’s Bay, and this tranquil retreat is now home of a
memorable art gallery full of impressive Caribbean paintings and prints, a craft
and antique shop full of strange delights – and The Secret Garden Café.
The Secret Garden offers casual dining in a delightful
courtyard setting, amidst this stunning, isolated backdrop: a truly
beautiful little place. It’s actually located in the ruins of the original
building.
Open from Wednesday through Monday for both lunch and
dinner, the menu – which has often been described as ‘eclectic’ - often
includes such delights as Asian Tuna Burgers, Pan Fried Flying Fish, Chicken
Wraps, Falafel Sandwiches, Grilled Shrimps and Scallops, Homemade Pizzas, Gyros
and some enticing soups, such as pumpkin. The
food is always delicious, light and healthy and prepared with innovation – and
love.
Please go to The Secret Garden – when you want a
relaxing, peaceful meal, and to feel at one with the world around you and
breathe in the clean Caribbean air.
I know that you’ll love it here, because only a person
completely devoid of a soul could fail to.
So, try to find time to wander up to Josiah’s Bay
Plantation – stroll around the tall Indonesian and African sculptures, the
masks and the paintings on the stunning stonework.
But make sure you don’t miss out on The Secret Garden Café – the
food there is a work of art as well.
The Secret Garden can be contacted at 2844951834 – and
it’s a secret I’m very happy to be passing on.
