Toa Toa: Romantic Reefs and Islands

Toa Toa may have the best view on Tortola, with its swimming pool set at the edge of a nearly sheer drop down to the beach, giving tenants an unobstructed view of Sir Thomas Drake Channel at its bluest and clearest. You can easily make out the sunken reefs from this vantage, and even see schools of fish and other oceanlife swimming in the waters below.

Toa Toa is located in Havers Hill, near Road Town in south-central Tortola. It's one of the most centrally located villas on the island, and because it's so close to Road Town it's a great place to watch yachts from as they pull in and go out with the villa's provided binoculars.

Toa Toa's Amenities

Toa Toa has four king-size bedrooms, three of which have air conditioning and all of which have bathrooms. Up to eight guests can stay at any given time, including children. A maid cleans three days a week, and she will also perform personal laundry service for you for a small fee. Smoking is permitted in the villa.

Bedrooms and the great room are equipped with cable television, and a movie and music library are available for guests' pleasure. A fax machine, answering machine, and wireless ADSL connection will keep you online if you must be connected to the outside world, and you have access to a safe for your valuables. Snorkel gear can be borrowed from the house, as can beach chairs and a cooler.

During the Christmas season, you'll need to rent the villa for at least two weeks. Because of the remote location and steep access, Toa Toa is best reached with a four-wheel drive vehicle.

Toa Toa's Features

Toa Toa is one of the places on Tortola where you can watch the sun set and rise from the veranda. Three pavilions surround the sunny deck. The largest houses the great room, where you'll find a bar, overstuffed sofas, and ideal relaxing and conversing surroundings filled with art and collectibles from all over the world. The bedroom upstairs has an indoor/outdoor shower. There's a billiard room here, and outside you'll find the alfresco dining area in a covered lanai, with your choice of a built-in gas grill or the Caribbean-style kitchen to service it.

In separate pavilions, the other two king suites have mini-fridges and coffee makers, and boast private covered balconies for uninterrupted peace – except for possible visits by Jojo, the owner's friendly cat, who often strolls by for a visit.

Toa Toa is relatively out of the way, and the closest beach is Apple Bay, ten minutes' drive away, Long Bay, Road Town, Smuggler's Cove, Cane Garden Bay, and Brewers Bay are all within 20 minutes. Most of the best restaurants, shops, and bars are within a twenty-minute drive. You can also find great water sports facilities in Nanny Cay about fifteen minutes away, or rent a boat at Road Town.
